Sharing A Bedroom

I remember my mom, who had 4 sisters and 3 brothers, telling me about how they grew up in their 4 bedroom home.  Obviously, they had to share bedrooms to make it work.  That seemed to be the norm back then, but now it seems families expect that each child needs to have their own room.

But what if you just can't afford a separate bedroom for each kid?  Or what if you decide that sharing a room will make your children learn to compromise?  Or maybe you have twins (like us) who want to share a room?  It is totally do-able.  And if done right, you won't have constant fights over territory.

We offer up some great shared bedrooms today.  Maybe they will give you some ideas for how to keep your kids happy while they share a room with their siblings.

Small Room

Generally, if you have an average to small sized room you're going to have to think about going vertical, like with bunk beds.  But there are other options as well.

Separate Spaces

If you have the space, it's always good to be able to give each child some designated space in their room as "theirs" and theirs alone.

More Than Two

Having more than two kids share a space can be tricky, no matter what the size of the room.  But with a little ingenuity, you can make it work and look fabulous, too.
