Cocktails at the Castle: Swedish House Party

Come celebrate Europe Day - an annual celebration of Peace and Unity - at the American Swedish Institute tonight. Enjoy all kinds of frivolity on ASI’s sprawling lawn as well as within Turnblad mansion, such as a European dance party hosted by DJ Jake Rudh, live music from local band, Still Pacific, and an opportunity to get crafty with paper art from Minnesota Center for Book Arts.

And then, of course, there is the food and drink. FIKA will be serving up European street food favorites, while Far North Spirits and Indeed Brewing will be serving up cocktails and beer, respectively. And if the mood hits you, you can learn drinking games from the Germanic American Institute, watch Euro-centric films or peruse the galleries of ASI.

Spring Spread Food Truck Rally

During the weekday, people in the Twin Cities hunt down their favorite food truck using Twitter or Facebook and walk to it during their lunch hour. This Saturday at Harriet Brewing, however, all your favorite food trucks will be in one place. This spring, summer, and fall, the MN Food Truck Association will be organizing not one, but three food truck rallies sure to fill your belly. On hand this afternoon will be 16 trucks offering delicious delectables such as Korean BBQ (Gogi Brothers), gourmet grilled cheese (O'Cheeze), turkey sandwiches (Turkey to Go), lobster tacos (Jake's Street Grill), and tapas (A La Plancha). There will also be plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options to be ordered up. During the party, live music will be provided by Pushing Chain, Luke Warm and the Cool Hands, Tommy Bentz Band, and Dang Ol' Tri'ole, and folks who grab a wristband can enjoy beer from Harriet Brewing in the taproom.
