I have one of those narrow, tall cabinets that is meant for cookie sheets and pizza pans. And I definitely use it for that. In fact, I over use it! I have so many cookie sheets, cooling racks and pizza pans stuffed in there, that everything tumbles out whenever I try to pull just one thing out.
The reality was that the space wasn't as efficient as it could be. There was a lot of room on the upper half of the cabinet that wasn't being used. Meanwhile, the bottom space was cramped with way to many pans.
The solution was simple. We installed a shelf about 60% of the way up and now I can keep my cooling racks up there and I have way more room on the bottom half. It was a simple solution and it truly makes me smile each time I use it now. It saved my sanity.
Perhaps you have spots like that in your home that would be helped by a very simple solution. Obvious areas to hone in on include overcrowded cabinets and drawers and inefficient, underused spaces.
You'll also want to assess your spaces to see if you have things in the wrong spot. That fancy platter probably doesn't need to be in the prime spot in your kitchen but rather put in a high or far away cabinet, to be brought out when you need it at holidays and special occasions. Save the prime real estate for your oft-used items.
We've been sorting through the internet to find clever storage solutions for your kitchen that might just save your sanity.
Save yourself a little sanity by assessing your kitchen for the best way to store everything.
